Experience the beauty of the Ouachita Trail (officially the Ouachita National Recreation Trail) with a shuttle service.

Get a lift to your vehicle with our shuttle and enjoy the Ouachita Trail without backtracking.

This is generally available from Mile 0 (Talihena State Park) to Mile 94.5 (Big Brushy Campgrounds). We can shuttle further east upon request and even pick up at Pinnacle for through hikers who wish to start at MP 0.

Standard Shuttle has seating for up to six passengers. We can possibly make arrangements for larger groups.

The same general areas apply for:

  • re-supply,
  • wellness checks, and
  • camp services.

Example shuttle runs (for 1 -5 passengers):

  •  Pick up at Queen Wilhelmina State Park (QWSP) shuttle to Talimena State Park.
  •  Pick up at Queen Wilhelmina State Park (QWSP) shuttle to Big Brushy.

Cost is $75 for the example shuttle runs (not per person).

  •  QWSP will require you to register as a hiker and park your vehicle by the steam locomotive.
  • We will call QWSP after your expected arrival time to be sure you have arrived safely.
  • If you have not arrived we will alert QWSP to a potential problem and work with emergency services to locate you.
  • For this reason we take a picture of hikers we shuttle when we drop them on the trail. This will give emergency services a current picture of you and your equipment in case of emergencies.

Our costs are flexible so just let us know what you want to do and we'll tell you what we can do to help.

What happens if you need an unplanned pickup after being shuttled out to the trail? Do we charge extra?

This happens frequently as people hit unanticipated issues. We encourage hikers to carry cell-phones and we will come and retrieve you from the nearest road access as soon as we can make the run. The last few hikers to call us have paid us $20 to cover the cost of the fuel.

What happens if you have driven yourself to the trail and need an unplanned pickup?

We consider this to be an initial shuttle request and the standard fee would apply.  We do NOT monitor the listed phone number unless we have shuttled hikers to the trail. 911 services are available for most of the trail between MP 0 east to Big Brushy at MP 93.
